You can find cancellation details on the listing page, and during the booking process—before you pay.

Check if you can cancel your reservation for free

Cancellation policies can always be found in the “cancellation policy” section of the listing page and the checkout screen while you’re booking. If you’ve already booked, you can find the full details of your Host’s policy on the Reservation Details Page.

Cancellation policies are set by the Host and vary by listing. If a Host has selected a policy with a fully refundable option, you can cancel the reservation for free — just make sure you cancel before the time and date listed.

Keep in mind that some listings may be non-refundable, or only partially refundable, after certain dates and times. In these cases, you won’t be able to cancel your reservation for free, unless the cancellation is covered by Airbnb’s Major Disruptive Events Policy.

No matter what a listing’s cancellation policy may be, cleaning fees are always refundable if the reservation is canceled before check-in.

Cancellation deadlines and refunds

The times and dates we display for cancellation policies are based on the local time zone of the listing. Cancellation deadlines for receiving refunds are measured from the check-in time for the listing in its local time zone, or 3:00 PM if no check-in time is specified.

Depending on the length of your stay, when you cancel, and the cancellation policy that applies to your reservation, you may get a partial refund if you cancel after check-in—learn more about different cancellation policies.

In the rare circumstances that a large-scale event at your destination prevents completion of your reservation, you may be eligible for a refund under Airbnb's Major Disruptive Events Policy

Issues while you're on a trip

If you encounter issues when you arrive at your listing that the Host cannot resolve quickly, you may be protected under our Rebooking and Refund Policy.

24-hour free cancellation period for reservations in California

When you're booking a stay in California at least 72 hours before check-in, you'll have 24 hours to cancel for a full refund. We're doing this to comply with California law and to improve the booking experience.

Note: You may have more than 24 hours to cancel for a full refund, depending on your Host’s cancellation policy.
